Build a disability community and promote justice in the outdoors, working toward a vision of an outdoor culture transformed by representation, access, and justice for disabled and other marginalized communities.

Community Programs

Accessible
Collaborating with parks, trail developers, and outdoor groups to enhance accessibility and inclusive infrastructure

Universal Gear
Partner with brands to develop and promote adaptive gear and ensure that equipment is available and designed for all hikers

Trail Guides
Developing guides showcasing accessible trails, highlighting surface type, elevation, and amenities.

Storytelling project
Documenting and recording disabled hikers experiences through their online platform

Inclusive group hikes
Hosting inclusive hikes, fostering a supportive environment for people with disabilities.

Founder & Director

Syren Nagakyrie is an advocate, writer, and community leader focused on accessibility, disability rights, and fostering inclusive outdoor experiences.

Syren Nagakyrie (they/them)

As a long-time disabled activist and community builder, Syren is committed to an outdoors culture transformed by representation, accessibility, and justice for Disabled and all other marginalized outdoors people.

They are the author of The Disabled Hiker’s Guide to Western Washington and Oregon: outdoor adventures accessible by car, wheelchair, and foot and the forthcoming Disabled Hiker’s Guide to Northern California, both published by FalconGuides.

They work with parks, organizations, brands, and government agencies to improve access and belonging of the disability community.
