Veggie Mijas is a community of women, trans, and gender non-conforming people, dedicated to advocating for plant-based lifestyles and food justice within marginalized communities

About the organization

Mission
Create sacred spaces for folks where they can share their experiences with food or having a plant-based lifestyle through an intersectional lens.

They focus on sharing space, relearning ancestral practices through foods, sharing our plant-based recipes, and providing access to information our community needs.

Community Programs

Partnerships
Seeking partners to advance the food liberation mission through in-person and online workshops, social media initiatives, product reviews, and community projects

Book Clubs
Offering a space for members to explore literature on food justice, environmental racism, decolonization, and plant-based living

Plant-Based Potlucks
Relearning ancestral community gatherings where members share plant-based meals with a focus on cultural dishes

Food Donation Drives
Organizing drives to deliver plant-based meals and essentials to marginalized communities and food deserts

Cooking Classes
Empowering underprivileged groups with free cooking workshops, teaching simple plant-based dishes and fostering community through shared meals

Executive Director

Estefania Orozco is a dedicated advocate for inclusive outdoor experiences, working tirelessly to ensure that everyone, regardless of ability, can enjoy the beauty of nature

Estefania Orozco (she/her)

Estefania is a proud Colombiana and Philly resident. Her plant-based journey started in 2013 in response to the environmental impact and animal abuse crisis caused by the food industry and has been slowly transitioning to veganism over the last few months.

Estefania has been a chapter organizer and coordinator as well as Operations Director. She now serves as the Executive Director for Veggie Mijas.
