IE to Launch A Climate Justice Concert Series This Earth Month
April 4, 2022 – United States – On April 21, Intersectional Environmentalist (IE), in partnership with The Eyes & Ears Agency, will be launching Earth Sessions: a series of intimate music and educational events that serve as an entry point to the world of environmental justice. These unique events will bring together people with intersectional identities to find community, learn about climate justice, and spark local action while serving as an extension of IE’s mission to connect the arts with activism.
The Earth Sessions pilot launches in Brooklyn, NY and will feature performances by local artist-activists, Charlie Burg and Maiya Blaney. The event will also include educational programming featuring Tony Hillery and Kofi Thomas, the founders of NY-based and BIPOC-led non-profit organizations, Harlem Grown and Good Life Garden, respectively. Through an educational panel moderated by IE Founder and President Leah Thomas, our featured panelists will provide attendees with an opportunity to learn and get involved with environmental justice efforts in their local community.
“We are thrilled to announce the official launch of Earth Sessions - where arts, community-building, and activism intersect. Earth Sessions gives IE the opportunity to reach beyond our virtual community and serve as a connector between people who want to take action and local grassroots organizations that are already making a difference,” said IE Director of Programming, Kiana Kazemi.
Earth Sessions are produced in partnership with The Eyes & Ears Agency, whose mission is to create sustained positive change by building a bridge between the music industry and impactful non-profit organizations. Their work leverages the cultural power of music to inspire musicians’ audiences to take action in support of social and environmental causes.
“We believe artists are at the forefront of motivating change. We are excited to support Intersectional Environmentalist in creating joyful spaces to celebrate their community’s activism and amplify the voices of BIPOC artists and musicians who are aligned with the environmental justice movement,” said Eyes & Ears Agency founder, Sammy Steiner.
IE and The Eyes & Ears Agency extend a massive thank you to our sponsors and supporters for helping bring Earth Sessions to life; Sierra Club, Earthjustice, Surfrider Foundation, and The Shawn Mendes Foundation.
