IE Partners With Teva To Bring Earth Sessions To LA To Celebrate Art + Activism
JULY 7, 2022 – United States – On July 17, Intersectional Environmentalist (IE), in partnership with The Eyes & Ears Agency and sponsored by Teva, will launch the second Earth Sessions from a series of intimate community driven environmental justice concerts. These events combine art and activism in order to hold space and create accessible, joyful, and educational moments for people with intersecting identities to find community and learn about climate justice.
The sold-out Earth Sessions pilot launched this past Earth Month (April 2022) in Brooklyn, NY. It featured performances by NY-based artists, Charlie Burg and Maiya Blaney, and an educational panel on food justice featuring Tony Hillery and Kofi Thomas*,* the founders of NY-based and BIPOC-led non-profit organizations, Harlem Grown and Good Life Garden, respectively.
The upcoming Earth Sessions in LA will be hosted at the Audubon Center at Debs Park, the country’s first platinum LEED certified building in Highland Park. The event will feature engaging conversations between founding IE members and local artist-activists, Xiuhtezcatl Martinez and Bedouine, regarding the importance of art in movement building. There will also be a virtual poetry reading from Afro-Indigenous and Afro-Latino activist, Vic Barrett, as well as a book activation in partnership with Rep Club, California's premiere queer Black-woman owned bookshop.
“We are so excited to bring Earth Sessions out West and encourage more of our IE community to engage and connect IRL through the power of the arts,” said IE Director of Programming, Kiana Kazemi.
Earth Sessions are produced in partnership with The Eyes & Ears Agency, whose mission is to create sustained positive change by building a bridge between the music industry and impactful non-profit organizations. Their work leverages the cultural power of music to inspire musicians’ audiences to take action in support of social and environmental causes.
IE and The Eyes & Ears Agency extend a massive thank you to Teva for supporting IE’s programmatic vision and helping bring Earth Sessions to life.
