Chandra Marshall

Chandra Marshall (she/her) is a philanthropy professional drawn to the subtle power of third spaces, such as public libraries, parks, and cultural institutions, as sites where community, memory, and possibility can take root. She is interested in how these shared spaces can be stewarded as part of the public good, sustaining arts and culture while expanding access for communities historically pushed to the margins.

She currently serves as a Program Associate at The Mellon Foundation, where she supports the operations and strategy behind grantmaking for archives, libraries, and culturally-focused collections. Her work centers on strengthening the systems that preserve collective histories and ensure they remain accessible, living resources.

Previously, Chandra was a public history fellow at Brown University’s Center for the Study of Slavery and Justice, where she led tours tracing the physical and enduring legacies of slavery across campus. She also served on QuestBridge’s National Alumni Board, supporting efforts to expand educational opportunities for low-income and first generation college students.
